Singer Hatsumi Shibata's second album released in 1975. Yuji Ohno, known for his work on the Lupin III series, composed and arranged the music. The album starts with a funky title track, A1 "Singer Lady,” followed by a sharp change into a slow ballad A2 "Please Play It Again,” and a series of melancholy Kayōkyoku like songs mainly about show-business of Shōwa era. The B-side is even more dopey and melancholy with a atmosphere of pub in rundown district. The obi explains "The world of brilliant shows represented by Barbra Streisand and Liza Minnelli. People who live their lives with dreams and aspirations for that world. The joys and sorrows of human beings are dramatically expressed by Hatsumi Shibata, a young female vocalist who is now attracting the most attention, and her encounter with Yuji Ohno resulted in the album "Singer Lady”. Stars who live in the glamorous world are also human beings, and the stage is a microcosm of human life." |
